Build Your Own Smartwatch for Under $125

If the current crop of smartwatches just isn't interesting you, the custom route may be more your style. Eschew all the big brands and build your own smartwatch from off-the-shelf components, for under $125.

To build this open source smartwatch, you'll need a fine-point soldering iron, 3D printer (or access to one), and some breakout boards and components. When finished, you'll have a unique smartwatch that will display notifications from your smartphone, and is fully customizable based on your own specs.

This Arduino based device is the brainchild of Jonathan Cook, who shares complete instructions for building and printing his watch at oswatch.org.
